We get lots of them visiting the Sycamore and Taupata trees here in Wellington city, usually accompanied by Finches and Sparrows ... certainly the continuously noisiest of the birds for such small creatures

How do you play m4a files in google chrome? Whats wrong with mp3 files?

Tried it in all my audio players (Irfan view, Media Monkey, Kodi, Grove Music, Windows Media Player...) Not a sound except for clicks at the beginning and end. Even converted it to an MP3 file with Freemake audio convertor, same thing, not a single peep was heard.

The sound level for the birdsong is pretty low and the click at the end is pretty loud by comparison, the frequency of the bird song is also quite high (3-6 khz) and there's a lot of lower frequency background noise

Are you sure your (high frequency) hearing isn't the problem?

It plays fine in Chrome (W10) for me.  Usually if an audio codec isn't supported, you'll get an error message.

I was using headphones when playing the converted MP3 file. Whenever I try to play it in chrome, I get the playback screen, then an error message saying there is a problem playing this file, and a download button/option.

Neat thing about Grey Warblers is that they have regional accents. All the warblers in your area will sing a similar song, but if you head elsewhere in NZ, they'll sing a different version. Apparently, with practice, you can identify where in the country a Warbler recording was made by listening to their accent.

Something is seriously wrong if nothing on your system will play a standard audio file. You might want to start a thread in the Windows or Desktop Computing forums so that this one doesn't get too cluttered.

Looks like it. How cool. Where seen? Looks like the poor wee thing had an adventure with the window prior. I have a birding mate that would lose his dignity in excitement over this. Interesting that the breast feathers are spotted rather than streaked the way the internet indicates they should be. Juvenile possibly. Thanks for sharing

Sorry, I wasn't trying to ask for identification, was just sharing because it looks neat - my friend's in Arizona so it's probably not something we have down this way (which may explain the spotted feathers). Sorry for any confusion!
