Not sure which topic this should be but could not find one specific to landline numbers.

 

I got a missed call from this number today and when I called it back, I got the message "Line test. The line is functional"

 

Anyone else experienced this. Anyone can shed some light on what it is for? Is this a scam call?

Pretty rubbish scam if that's all it does. 034239 is an ordinary geographical range - i.e. not a premium rate prefix - so nobody's making any money out of tricking you into calling it. It's assigned to Vodafone though (see NAD) so maybe raise it with them?
