Hi. My 13yo son is travelling to Australia next week as part of a small group to represent his school in a competition.

Would like to get him a suitable sim card for his phone, but would like to get it from here before he goes rather than trying to get the accompanying teacher to sort something over there. They will be there for 8 days.

He's currently on Warehouse Mobile. Thinking of getting a Vodafone prepay sim and getting the $19 Roaming Add-on. Realise this will mean he won't have phone service on the day he leaves Australia as the add-on only lasts 7 days.

Does anybody know of a better option?

His phone is carrier unlocked so no issues in regards to that.

Thanks.

Why can't he just use his Warehouse mobile SIM?

I guess it depends how important that last day is to you. The 2degrees $35 pack is obviously more expensive but it has unlimited calls and texts (not just 100 minutes / 100 texts) and lasts for 14 days.

iPad Pro 11" + iPhone 15 Pro Max + 2degrees 4tw!

These comments are my own and do not represent the opinions of 2degrees.

Does he intend to use mobile data while in AUS? Otherwise why not just causal roaming on warehouse mobile?

I believe he'd go on casual roaming if he used his WM sim in Australia.

I could be wrong but looks like WM don't do a roaming package.

Last day is not a biggie. They fly out at 11am from Sydney.

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Free setup code: R587125ERQ6VE. Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

I think he will need to use mobile data on the odd ocassion. They are heading over for an academic competition. They'll have access to WiFi at the competition venue.

I'll have a look at the 2Degrees suggestions

Yes but it's 14 days not 7  as some of the others are so $35 for 17 days is ok.
