I need new blades for this Philips S5050 shaver, but I'm not gonna pay $70 for a replacement head when I can buy a new shaver for less.

I note that Ali lists heaps of replacement blades\heads but the product photos look very third-world jungly.

Anyone able to recommend a cheap but reasonably good quality replacement source?

I purchased replacements for my Panasonic razor from Amazon. Not as cheap as aliexpress, but they were genuine parts and still significantly cheaper than buying in NZ.

Philips seem to have more control over the marketing and pricing of their spare parts than Panasonic.

Amazon certainly sell parts for your razor, although I don't know how the price compares,.

Good for you. I also tried shaving once a year but I kept getting mistaken for a Taliban.

Philips shavers are branded Norelco in the US, so search on that and you should find them.

:-)

What I found was a new electric razor. Great first shave, declines from that. $80 for new blades, declines from then. I dunno the cost vs cost but I can choose a good shave, and revert back to a good shave quick time.

Amazon is the only place I have used. But it's rare, probably at least 3 years between changes. Yes it seems expensive but it you think about how long they last (if you look after them) and I have more landscape that most with a shaved head also.

I have a Panasonic shaver and bought a stock of blades and heads when I was in Japan last year.

Far cheaper than NZ and to be honest, it would be a good excuse to go back when  I run out!

I used to stop in at Trumpers in Mayfair on occasion but these days it is a blessedly long way to go for a shave.

I forgot to mention that I only use the Philips on my bony dome. The face gets Gillette Fusion.

Re shaving heads, I noticed when I was trolling Ali that there are several 5x head shavers, made specifically for skinheads.

Rather than concave like the S5050, the heads appear to be convex, so they'd probably fit knobbly skulls a little better.

I also used Amazon for my replacement, it ended up about $40 cheaper than the shaver shop
