Hey guys, hope everyone's having a good weekend !

I need to move a Fisher & Paykel Aquasmart 2 Top Loading Washing machine from North island to South Island - not having any luck finding reasonably priced courier/moving company etc, so will most likeley need to take it ,myslef in the car.

Any idea if I need to secure the drum unit, if I transport it horizonatally (on it's side)? Doesn't appear to have any of the long bolt-holes which the Front Loaders have.

Thanks

Assuming it has an open bottom, then you could tip it over and jam some cardboard between the drum and sides. That way the drum is centred and there's no stress on the springs.

Of course, you'll find water comes out of it when you tip it over, so do that outside

The F&P top loaders I have had used a threaded plastic insert about 70mm across and 200mm long that went in to a hole in the bottom of the machine then you turned the drum a half turn or so to lock it in.

F&P have support available on 0800-372-273 (0800 FP CARE).  Just call them and ask.  I have found them to be pretty good at answering my questions in the past.

This may not still be relevant. 19 years ago I transported one on its back around Wellington.

After that it never worked properly.

It seemed that some residual water made its way to the control board(s) at the top of the machine and the moisture was still there when it was switched on, so Pouff!

Designs may have changed, however, but I agree that F&P will be the best source of information.
