Pretty much as per subject... Tracking shows... Delivery attempted - recipient not home!

Three of us were home at the time of NZPost attempted delivery.

NZ Post only left a Card-to-Collect in the letter box....

No attempt to open the gate. No gate alarm activated in the house.

Raised the issue directly with DHL by email.

This always used to happen to us.   For whatever reason, it mostly stopped a year or two back. So annoying to run outside and see the tail-end of the van hooning it down the road with your stuff.

Either head office gave them a bollocking or a change in staff?

Although, we did have one courier self-sign a signature required item, but unfortunately also delivered it to the wrong address -- lost for over a year, neighbour found it a while ago and bought it over. Not that we need it, a rarely required auto-part.

Yup.... I've sat in my home office watching the courier pull up, get out of the van, throw a card in the mailbox, and leave again. Get the card and its a "card to call"- when querying it, get a "no one answered the door"" response.

Admittedly its usually a different driver to our usual courier that does this....  so can't complain about our local guys, they're actually pretty good at coming to the door and have learnt the 4 legged alarm system cant get at them :)

DHL out of the USA is still fast.

Ordered some parts from Mouser on Friday afternoon and delivered to Christchurch at 2pm today. Not bad over a weekend for a freight free delivery!

I've had couriers run up to the front door and stick a card to call (clearly prewritten) in the door jamb without a knock at all. Once even when I was standing behind the guy while he did this. He did end up *very* sheepishly going and getting my package once he saw me.

I've never understood the economics of this? Do they get a bigger payment for visiting twice for delivery? I would have assumed it was in their interests to get things delivered on the first go.

It's a real lucky dip situation unfortunately, you just have to hope you get a decent person assigned to your area.

Are you sure they even attempted delivery? I've had cards sent out with our mail previously (bundled with post in a rubber band), with nonsense reasons written on the card such as nobody home or too big for the letterbox.

When I complained to the local delivery branch, I was told they had better things to be doing than delivering our mail; the very thing they are paid to do.

Insist they deliver it. Don't put up with their lies.

For those who actually get a card-to-call, consider yourself lucky. For me, that is always what shows online that a CTC was left and an attempt was made. But nada. So raised a few complaints and was given a few reference numbers, and you guessed it, no call-back nothing.

Since I notified DHL Express about non delivery I received a very polite follow up with contact numbers for redelivery and further enquires.

So, off to NZPost today with my CTC card to pick up my package.

Overall, fast delivery (8 days) of some electronic parts from the USA to Hawkes Bay.
