Bet there are some red faces with the disastrous review from consumer review on their retro fridge.
Especially considering the ridiculous price of the behemoth.

They don't even look good IMO. I've seen a few of the pastel-coloured versions in property listings recently, and I can't help but wonder why you would want the focal point of your modern kitchen to be a retro fridge.
Jamie Oliver has a lot to answer for. Smeg fridges became much more popular after they were featured in his home kitchen. Great product placement!
I must sheepishly confess that we have a SMEG kettle and toaster that we quite like.
But NO not the retro fridge that we never liked
cheers
Yea but they look so dam cool.
Plus if you're dropping 5-10k on a small fridge, you don't care about performance.

They look like something dug up out of a landfill, or that's been quietly rusting in the back of someone's garage for the last sixty years. As @Benjip put it, why would you want a giant 1950s home appliance as the focal point of your kitchen?

I can see people not caring about energy efficiency (in terms of the power bill), but performance? I would be constantly disappointed if my drinks weren't ice cold…

They are a nice looking toaster and kettle, I'm quite smitten with the design and colour options. How's the performance of it as a toaster? Any good, or is it like this fridge - all form and no function?

When people buy Italian sports cars/bikes they're not getting them for the performance...
("Would the owner of the Alfa Romeo with license place XXX please come into the carpark, your car is on fire" happened to a friend of mine a few years ago. You don't own one, you have the privilege of paying its bills).

We are pretty pleased both the kettle and toaster. The kettle is a little heavy. There were comments that the SMEG letters fall off but we havent had that issue.
I don't care how good you think your taste is.. this looks superb...
You don't just by a Smeg fridge and chuck it in a bog standard, un-styled kitchen.
And I think it would be remiss to think anyone is using these as their primary fridge - they just aren't big enough.

Gawd, that picture is missing only one thing. Let me fix that for ya...

Or, you know, bacteria grew on your food and you got super super deadly sick.
