Supermarkets: Are they doing enough for contactless and delivery?

I feel like provision of contactless pickup shopping and speed of service has stalled. The initial ramp up last year was ok. There are no dedicated contactless stores to my knowledge. As for the semi-automated robot supermarket..

Should Pak-an-Save head office provide a specific franchise for contactless only stores to get things going in the right direction?

In Auckland we have a few Dark Stores that there are no customers, delivery only, and I believe there are automated pickers at a new dark store.

At the moment it is still a largely manual process but will improve over time.

The issue will be fruit and veges, deli, meat and fish will all still need human intervention, you probably will need someone to pack the bags once all collected, again technology is getting better.

There is also a massive cost for picking robots, if they were implemented I would expect price rises to recoup their cost.

Dark Stores, automated pickers. Intriguing. Nice to know someone at least is not sitting around waiting for Amazon to bowl them over.
