They have been relaying the footpath outside our house and have dug up the old one exposing the UFB cable and it looks like they have cracked the trunking/conduit that the cable runs through. Should this be repaired or is it safe to leave it once the new concrete is poured on top?

I agree this was the best course of action. The break in the conduit would eventually lead to moisture issues. Yes the fibre cable is encased in multiple layers of protection, but any rain or ground water entering at that break would eventually make its way to the lowest point, which could be the drop-off pit at some poor bugger's boundary.

The techie from Chorus has been and seen. They no longer put the cable through trunking/conduit/pipe and everything will be fine. No damage to the cable.
