I’m in Addington, rubbish bins meant to be emptied yesterday.

I left bins out today as well, the whole street has been missed. Know someone on different street and they’ve been missed as well.

No sign of collection today as well, no messages in their application either. Short of ringing them wondering how long to leave bin on road for? Guessing they must know with missing whole streets.

Probably short-staffed like many many businesses right now. I'd leave them at least 24 hours and see what happens.

Ring CCC and let them know. They will follow up with WM. You should let them know after 6pm on the day of collection if you have been missed.

Cheers, I’ll call them tomorrow if still no sign. I didn’t call them on day as realise probably a staffing problem and thought everyone hammering their phones won’t help either, wasn’t just my bin but everyone’s.

Did see article saying normally collected next day when short staffed, but doesn’t look like happened.

I'm in Aidanfield, Halswell, we had that a month or so back, they came the next day. Today is ours Ill keep a lookout as if its flu/covid staff shortages, that isnt a day or two fix. I assume they would grab extra staff on OT, so maybe a couple of days delay may make sense

EDIT Green bins picked up this morning

I rang the council. Told me they’ve got two days to empty the bin, so if not emptied today to let them know tomorrow.

Also told me another person called in same area concerned about the weather and how long have had to keep bins on street.

They said when street/bin missed they usually get them after finishing normal rounds next day.

No problem with green bins. Hopefully it doesn’t effect you Tdgeek.

All good here, I didnt put bins out as yellow isn't full and green is empty. What a day to be a rubbish collector, my rain gauge shows about 2.5 inches overnight

Drainage is not great here too

Locally the problem becomes the longer the bin is out the more likely it gets blown over and becomes a rubbish distributor. One of the neighbours usually lives in New Plymouth where I think the council hand out the rubber bin lid clips. She grabbed an armful and brought them with her for all her beach neighbours. At least our street is sorted 😀

Hamilton City Council uses an app called 'Antenno'.

Bloody good. I get reminders about kerbside bins (day before: which bins on what day), notifications about delays (glass in particular), and issues around flooding or closed streets.

Edit: and you can also lodge complaints / issues. Particularly with missed bins.

Cheers, I searched and ChCh has one too, got it, same specs as yours

You haven't made it in life if you haven't got a bin app!

Yay, they collected it early afternoon.

It looked like a spare truck, and they were doing it old style, one person driving the other running along side manually putting bins on a lifter at back of truck to empty them.

Normally just truck with a driver only who operates a side lifter from inside truck, as well as driving.
