Hi folks,

I've got a relative who is looking at an emerging but 'interesting' custody issue. They're struggling to go through the process and I'm keen to link them up with a family lawyer.
She has asked a couple but not getting responses from reaching out.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

Sorry for your rellies to hear this.

All I can say, and you’ve probably heard this already, but if they get to involving lawyers things are really bad. I really hope you they find some agreement to avoid going that far. Each side ends up with a lawyer and the bills will eat them alive.

Several years ago for my marriage dissolution I used a great lawyer here in Auckland, I've still never actually met her in person. We met via zoom and from then just communicated via phone and email.
My point is it may not be entirely necessary for the lawyer to be geographically close to you, you may have more options available to you.
Good luck to your relatives,
Cheers,
Joseph
