A radical new electric bicycle, the YikeBike from Christchurch. www.Yikebike.com

The UK media are already covering it.

Yup pretty much my thought.

Id like one if it wasnt so ridiculously over priced. Heck you can get a decent car for that price!

The force is strong with this one!

Great shots of Chch in the video.

One of my techs has just seen it and asked the typical SI Question:

"Can it tow a trailer?"

Nice product, brilliant innovation and I'm sure it will be a great success.

I have one though though, it may be fine buzzing around Chch (and Benelux for that matter), how will it deal with Stuart Street in Dunedin?

My mate's company built the right side of the front wheel, as strange as it sounds, and he personally worked on it as well. That's the only part they were allowed to build, the rest of the bike was built by other companies so that no one was allowed to know exactly what each part was for. So for the last several months he's known something transport-related was going to be revealed but had no idea exactly what!

Cool invention. Though I wouldn't exchange my bike for one of those - I actually like busting a sweat when getting from A to B, it's about the only exercise I get! haha
