I've just watched episode one of Pioneer One, an "original dramatic series" made by Josh Bernhard and Bracey Smith, distributed via Vodo.

I'm thoroughly impressed.

The pilot episode was made on a budget of USD$6000, but it doesn't look like it.
The series is available for download in 720p and SD.

I've donated $5 to help finance the next 3 episodes.

Check it out and spread the word around,

Cheers,
Joseph.

Downloaded and watched it the other night.

Definitely better than I thought it was going to be.
Not your usual big budget production values, but not really that bad considering the $6000 budget they worked on. Quite a lot better than some of those horrible "Mini-series" events we see as fillers on TV, which would have had a lot more money to play with.

Hopefully the series has at least a few more episodes to realize it's full potential. Maybe I should donate as well.

BTW (and slightly OT), I love the idea of this kickstarter.com website (which is the website used to fund the Pioneer One pilot). What a fantastic way of funding random projects.

Indeed, I've watched a couple of SyFy channel movies recently, and, my god, they are terrible.
Stonehenge Apocalypse... It was actually worse than you'd think.

So I was pretty impressed with Pioneer One!

Cheers,
Joseph

The series will be available for download. It's not yet past the pilot:

"Right now we are working on finishing our pilot episode as a proof-of-concept for the series.  Once we secure funding for the rest of the season, six more episodes will follow to finish out our 7-episode first season.  From there, we have four more seasons’ worth of story we’re waiting to tell.  Each new season of stories takes on a new perspective with new characters and situations that will ultimately contribute to a much larger narrative."

I watched part of it online earlier this week, might download the pilot now to watch later.

Downloading on my TelstraClear connection at 2.5MB/s... Nice number of seeds there, hope there are some New Zealand ones.

It'll take about 9 minutes to download the 1.12GB torrent. Not bad at all.
