Just out of curiosity, I tried to log in to an old account I had when I did 12 months as an xtra customer. This was about 5 years ago. To my surprise I was able to log in and send and receive emails. If I could do this, I wonder how many old accounts are still active, and why would they do this?

Telecom is not following their SOPs? I wonder if you could connect to the net using your old account? Haha.

in theory, if you want to keep you xtra email account after leaving telecom you are supposed to pay for it. I can't remember the amount, something like $2-10 per month.
looks like you got lucky and somehow it never got disconnected (or else you are paying for it and don't realise).

Of course now you have mentioned it here, prepare for this problem to be fixed and the email account to dissapear. :D
