I'm not from Oamaru, but found the place on Google Earth (easy to spot, based on your description), then used the address / location to find the address / contact info via various Otago business sites. in the end, the Waitaki Council site had all the details. 

Might be:

Autoland Dismantlers
     Accepts: Scrap metal, Used car batteries
     Ph: 03 434 0912
     Mbl: 027 345 2790
     Main South Road (SH1)
     Deborah
     Oamaru

(144-ish Oamaru Alma Rd, Deborah, Otago)
