Paul Henry has been suspended until 18th October without pay for his comments about the Governor General yesterday on Breakfast. He did apologise.  PC madness gone crazy?

Personally I'm sick of the guy. He just seems to try to be offensive for the sake of being talked about.

Seeing him get all giddy around that fraud Deb Webber didn't win him any points with me either.

I agree with TVNZ's comment that he says what many of us quietly think.

If you ask me completely shutting down state television would be a more effective solution to the problem of gutter journalism.

Poor fella. I am sure two weeks without pay will be a huge blow to his income level, cause serious hardship, and make him think twice about being such a smartypants in the future...yeah right!

All that has got him is more fame and fortune.

I think anyone who thinks Henry was right to say what he did yesterday is a redneck moron. The GG was born and raised in NZ and speaks like the most NZer I've ever come across. He says some funny things a lot of the time but that call yesterday was atrocious and anyone who doesn't think so has a questionable set of morals imo. Also John Key didn't call him out on live TV? Why not?

I like Paul Henry, but this particular comment was clearly tremendously racist.

Having said that, would Paul Henry have been suspended if had clarified that by "NZer" he meant "Native NZer" i.e. Maori. Probably not I would think.

Agreed. Seems like everybody is to scared or nervous to say something that may be seen as "racist". Good on you Paul. Cant wait to see you back on the Screens.

IMO there is a clear difference between something that could be misinterpreted as racist,  and something that is clearly racist.  Paul Henry's comment on the governer general falls squarely in the latter camp - i.e. clearly racist.
