So Noel Leeming are now selling the iphone.  On their main page it advertises it for $199, but when you go to the plans they are identical to the Vodafone ones, and none of the plans puts the iphone at $199!!  Any ideas why their advertisment says this?

It's an offer they are doing with the Smart  3 plan but doesn't start till next week from what I was aware. It's in the new brochure coming out this week.

It will be some form of contract you have to signup for, (perhaps a 36 month contract) as they have to subsidise the pricing somehow.

Hmm hope it effects the others price, but at that monthly price still too expensive :/

This is a saving of $319 on the phone price vs buying from Vodafone, is this correct?

from what i see it's only a $120 saving, which is still not bad

$199 for phone and plan at NL, $319 for same deal from Vodafone.

Opps you are right, my bad! Got the numbers mixed up.

I think it's a good deal - especially when iPhones are never discounted in NZ. Good on NL for doing something different!

In japan it's cumpulsory to buy a iPhone on a plan.
Maybe for the one at Noel lemming , it's a real bargain if the plan suits

Its certainly a better price, however that plan is out of reach of many, not expecting a price decrease to 199 but something similar in decrease on the iphone2 or iphone3 plan

It is more about selling the mobile pricing plan than anything. The iphone is just the carrot.

Personally I prefer to buy the phone outright, and chose my own calling plan.
