So, got a package coming from Auckland.

First it was showing as picked up from Auckland North Shore
Second, at the Auckland Sorting Centre (AOC)

What im curious about, since the company paid for overnight + Saturday delivery, was am I actually likely to see the package tomorrow? It was sent out this morning.

Also, how do Courier Post transport packages from island to island? And do they transport them overnight?

The status was last updated at 7.11pm tonight  being at the AOC sorter.

Anyone in the know?

Why did the company send the parcel with Saturday delivery on it. Did you ask for Saturday
delivery ? Because it has a Sat delivery I would say that it would be put in the Saturday pile.
Yes they transport parcels overnight on the ferry.

Seems strange they would pay for sat delivery when its not being sent on a friday.

Yes, you should see it tomorrow unless you are one of those annoying rural dwelling people that dont declare their rural nature. Fastways I sent out today have had a couple arrive this afternoon.

Vodafone is the company I purchased from. It was a vodem.

I ordered the item on Sunday, and being public holidays it was not sent till yesterday. I am only under the impression that it is a Saturday delivery because my tracking number starts with SL, which after reading implies that it has Saturday delivery.

However, when looking at the tracking page, it also says Service: Overnight

I hope im not rural. Although, I have to admit, Blenheim isn't the biggest place. :P

But no, not rural.

That's good to hear then :)

Flight? Someone above said ferry? Do they fly packages around NZ as well?

EDIT:  Ferry*

Courierpost have a few planes flying stuff around the country.

Airwork is the operating company. They have metroliners, friendships and most notably a 737-200 which is bright yellow and has courierpost on the tail.

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.

I sent a phone (that $2 one 2degrees sold when they opened some stores) to my Aunt in Christchurch. Sent it on a Friday about Mid-Day and it arrived to her Saturday with overnight post. Very very pleased. Every time I've payed for something thats meant to be next-day delivery, its always been next day with courier post.

SL is not the Saturday delivery code. SL merely denotes that it is a signature required.

The Saturday delivery tickets I have seen/used start with SR, and they change the Service standard on the CourierPost tracking website to the following:

CourierPost use a range of different alpha prefixes to identify different ticket types.

e.g.
SL for signature required
EA for non signature
SR for Saturday delivery (SR tickets are not tracking tickets, but merely add-on tickets to specify service standard required)
CR for rural delivery (again, not a tracking ticket - just an add-on ticket)

and so on...
more info here - https://www.courierpost.co.nz/Buy/Purchase+with+account/default.htm

Even if there was a Saturday delivery ticket on a package, I doubt it would be held for delivery until Saturday if it was able to be delivered before a Saturday.

In any case, and as l43a2 said, it should be on your doorstep tomorrow morning.

Hope that helps. Laughing
