Yay! get to see Vista and Office 2007. Nothing greatly new but it is good to see it the presentation in demo.

Get a chance to meet Darryl too, had a short chat and what not.

Nathan's presentation ran a bit over time and pretty much rush through the last few bits to catch up with the time...

Few things that i learned about Vista is that beta 2 should be out next week and the nagging UAC gets a bit more fine tuned and the reported behaviour of stressing users to authenticate just to delete their own files etc should be gone in Beta 2.

Now, i'm wondering who/where can I hold of Vista Beta 2....

Right now, i'm sitting and waiting for the 1pm session on Office 2007 for developer (Darryl). Damn, wish I could have clone myself and attend all different sessions at the same time... there is just not enough me to go around... bugger!

Just ask Nathan to have your Passport account included in the Beta. Send a PM to him here on the forums.

The Vista beta program is now closed. They are not adding anymore people to the beta as beta2 is a public beta and almost anyone can download it.

I already asked on behalf of chiefie and others.

Oh cool cool. am looking forward to the Beta 2 then... really would love to get my hands on it and see how well it performs and would like to see the Gadgets in action. Main thing really is would like to see how IE7 protected mode in action too and anything that related to web services

Brad: cheers for asking for me on behalf.

Mauricio: What's Nathan's username here?

Oh update on Office 2007, mmm i like the sound of Open XML format, I read about it and now seeing it is believing. the power to take apart Office Open XML file and "interogate" and extract its into bits and pieces will be useful. Perhaps the next generation of personal webblog and Intranet webpage publishing can be tool together with Office 2007's Word and use Custom Ribbon and Visual Studio Office Tool to extract the formatting and content and put it on database and publish out to the net without having to train users a new interface. Imagine information workers that are not too technical can use something that is very familiar to their everyday programs like Word, to create/update their web content... sounds like the direction.

Yeah I too am very keen to get on Office System 2007 beta, after today's presentation from Darryl, it looks real promising. Shame you couldn't make it to today's Connect'06.

I am looking forward to give Vista beta2 a good run :-) would love to see Aero Glass in person and will see whether my laptop can handle it or not... *finger cross*

I might not sit through to the 2nd part of the Vista Development, falling asleep. (not Jeremy Boyd's fault, just thought the 2nd part will probably not relate to me in term of web development... i might call it a day. :-D

What are the requirements going to be for the public downloads? Is anybody going to be able to register for it?

I'm not sure what requirements will be in place. All i know at this stage is that the beta should be available from the 22nd, US time of course.

But as soon as i can find out more i will let people know. I would assume that as with XP every man, his dog and perhaps even the odd monkey will be able to download it.

Yes, this is the rumour: that it will be announced during the WinHEC conference, starting 22 May.
