Your product is slow, useless, impossible to configure and relies upon passwords, activation and Internet Explorer just to do its job. It fails on every level.

Damn right, though I did like Mcafee anti porn feature that thing blocked everything with even a tiny bit of sex, I hate porn everything about it, its smut and degrades woman and encourages rape IMHO. I might bitch about woman and how they want to be as good as us men ;-) but when its comes to porn Im on the anti porn side. If you watch porn I wont judge you for that, its your choice, but if you watched porn in my home I would probably kill you.

Anyways more info on who needs to stop writing software.

That's a pretty broad statement. What sort of examples were you thinking of?

Microsoft produces both hardware and software. (quality is rather subjective to people's opinions

)
EMC make a pretty good SAN, they also own VMWare.

Sometimes I use big words I don't always fully understand in an effort to make myself sound more photosynthesis.

Nothing wrong with McAfee VSE

One company which should cease to exist as a whole is Computer Associates (CA)

I haven't used one bit of software of theirs which works well

I'm mainly thinking of "drivers" that have tens or hundreds of MB of bundled stuff that you don't need. A printer driver should allow you to print. I don't want a Photo Printing Wizard to load on boot and sit down in the notification area all day. That sort of thing...

Eset need to stop writing their "Smart Security" firewall until all their software devs have taken a course UserFriendly101

Talking ppl over the phone to configure that firewall over the phone is super difficult

Good point. I fullly agree. Especially now they're including pop-up 'ads' to remind you to 'click here' to buy replacement ink or paper.

This isn't an anti Apple but Apples windows version of Itunes should be redone from the start for speed. A music player should not be a sync software, digital storefront for all applications and music and video, updater and video player all of which load at itunes startup and contribute to a 1 minute load time on a dual core laptop with 2 gb of ram.
I have a basic ipod, I dont need and cant use half the features that you have loaded in and on top of that, you stopped supporting my ipod many moons ago, why am I forced to get 90mb updates every 2 months or so.
Split it into basic components that load as needed after itunes startup and can be updated separately, make life easier for your customers.

Also on the speed front, why does Mozilla anything now take so much time to load? I use thunderbird for email because it syncs with google calendar and imap much better than outlook 2007 did, but why should I have to click its icon and then wonder for many mississippi's if it has started or not? Outlook loaded instantly. At least put a splash screen up to let me know thunderbird is doing something. It is the same with firefox. I now use chrome because it loads instantly when I click its icon, no waiting, no clicking the icon again in frustration.

Bah rant over, I suppose the moral of the story is if you use free software, you cant complain if it is not perfect. Richard Stallman would tell me that I should get involved and rewrite the software stack so it is faster and if I cant do that, then shut up!

This is the very reason why I never re-installed iTunes after my latest system re-build. I only want to transfer songs between iPod and PC and for that I use SharePod. It's free, portable (i.e, you don't need to install it, just run the exe) and it works.

What about that Ad-Aware by Lavasoft. That used to be the main point of call for cleaning up computers but now it's so resource hungry and slow.

Actually, Adobe Reader has gone like that over the years. More and more functionality but slower.

Oh and the Harmony Remote software that tries to be 'my first paint by crayons' easy but quickly gets really complicated/annoying if you want to do anything nonstandard.

My pet hate is printer drivers clogging up my machine as I often work in different environments, and of course every office has a different printer

Just Bad. To be fair, last I tried to use it was about 6 months ago and it wasn't very nice.

Also, gotta agree with the McAfee post. Better off not to have an AV IMHO if you are going to insist on installing McAfee. I have seen malware just happily install itself and run while McAfee sits there like nothing has happened.

iTunes annoys me with it's huge updates - it seems Apple's way of doing an update is to send out a whole new install rather than patch an update. Not so much of a bigge on broadband, but if you have to do it on 3 or 4 computers it can add up.
