Pity there isn't a catch-all forum under 'Telecommunications' where we can post on providers for which there isn't a forum. Anyway, here it goes:

Tip: when moving house do NOT use a service called Fastconnect. They were recommended by our agent and it took over a week for our phone line to be activated. (They should be called Slowconnect.) Actrix support, on the other hand were outstanding.

Yeah typically you do not need 3rd party service to move your telecommunications if you're moving house, the agent probably got a commission for referring that service I suspect.

Normally you just call your provider yourself to arrange a move.

Actrix have a good reputation and have been around forever.

They have a low profile though and tend to focus on business connections.  They are quite expensive price wise for larger amounts of data but the performance and service will be good.

On yeah the New Zealand Broadband forum http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=49 is probably the section you were looking for.

You are right, Ragnor and normally I wouldn't have signed up. But, you know how it is: you get to sign a huge pile of papers and when this came up the lady explained that Fastconnect take care of connecting you to power, phone, internet and gas, all with one signature. There was no pressure to sign and I'm not sure about the commission. Fastconnect told me they get paid by the providers.

The Broadband forum is the catch-all for broadband, but not for phone.

Anyway, thanks for your reply.
