Has anybody got one of those car style office chairs that TopMaq sell?

My old chair is on it's last legs... these look quite nice from the picture and description, but would like to know from somebody who actually uses/d one, long term hopefully.

The kink in the top will make comfort very height dependent. A lot of car seats are just not comfortable unless you are in the target height / width range and these look similar. Try one out.

Similar but cheaper/different product, I saw them too and those ones have fixed backs from memory, and don't think they had arm rests either from memory, and the tilt mechanism was really stiff too. I think those were more like an office chair dressed up to look like a car seat.

The ones from TopMaq going by the trademe ads are more car seats with an office chair base, given that they appear to have a normal car recline mechanism.

Maybe I'll go into the show room next week and see if they have one made up.

If you can afford it I'd go for the Haworth Zody chair. You can get them from Europlan in Wellington, not sure where else outside Welly. It's a cheaper alternative to the $3000 chairs but VERY good and comfortable.

Mine cost $900

Definately had fixed backs when I saw them in TWH a few months back, but perhaps they have replaced them with a different model now. I'll see if any of the local warehouses have them and have a another look.

For the future googlers if any. I finally plunged and bought one of these "DFBGZ05 BLUE Racing Seat Office Chair" chairs from Topmaq before my existing nearly 10 year old warehouse high back chair finally falls to bits. My brief review below.

The chair is quite comfortable (but only been sitting in it an hour, and not that my posture is anything to write home about), the components appear very well constructed for a sub $300 chair, I would probably go so far as to say that it could essentially be an authentic car seat which the manufacturers have cleverly decided can be used as an office chair once the base and arms are affixed.

The back has a recline mechanism exactly like a car, pull the lever on the side and lean back. WAAAAAY back. It goes to full horizontal lie-flat, in fact even further than that, it can go to a negative lie-flat (legs higher than head) which is rather disconcerting balance-ways the first time you do it, but it didn't dump me on my head.

It has your more typical office chair adjustable friction tilt/rock mechanism also, with the standard push-to-lock on the rise and fall lever.

The plastic arms are adjustable in height by a simple push button.

NB: The cheap ones in The Warehouse that look similar, are not remotely of the same construction, they have a fixed back rather than the recline mechanism (they do have the usual office chair tilt mechanism though).

Slow, that's what it's like.

Dropped the chair to TopMaq 2 weeks ago. Still nothing. It shouldn't take more than 1/2 an hour to swap out a lift strut even with one arm tied behind your back.

Knew I should have just done it myself.

Might have to start getting persistent.

Chair finally back in my hands today. Seems ok, they appear to have put in a much better replacement strut, it lifts a country mile if you let it, like a draughtsman's chair, dangly feet. Which is probably just what it needs as I can basically have it at very minimal lift now and still comfortable so reducing the stress on the lift strut when leaning back.

Whatever the case, it's fixed... but I don't think I'd return it if it should collapse again, easier and far faster to just pick up a busted old office chair from trademe or freecycle or somewhere that still has a good strut, and swap them.

Chair struts are largely interchangeable these days.

So bouquet for TopMaq fixing the problem, but a brick bat for having my chair for 3 weeks just to replace a strut.
