Does anyone have or has anyone heard the Jawbone Jambox in action? Other than Logitech, have you got another portable bluetooth speaker that you recommend?

The Creative D100 is quite good, cheaper than the others too (uses AA batteries). Sound isn't up the quality of the Logitech, but given the price pretty good nevertheless (last I checked JB Hifi had them for sale).

I have a Jambox and I love it. The sound is great for the size of the unit - bass is surprisingly good.  The bluetooth works fine over a decent distance. Only slight drawback are the built-in self-announcements (eg when you turn it on, it says " I'm on and ready to go") which are a bit irritating.

There are lots of reviews on-line if you google and most of them are very positive.

I have the Soundmatters Foxl (V1) - as far as I'm aware, the JamBOX is just a rehoused Foxl with some secret sauce to improve bluetooth audio.  The Foxl is awesome - fantastic audio quality, with a decent amount of bass and very little distortion even at high volume.  I used to bring it to work, and a number of colleagues have bought one after seeing/hearing it in person.

The V2 Foxl seems to have a slight edge over the JamBOX (since this is presumably based on V1 technology) - http://www.engadget.com/2010/12/28/jawbone-jambox-vs-soundmatters-foxl-v2-fight/

Reasonably competitively priced, too - I got mine from the Australian distributor: http://www.foxl.com.au/buy-now

- AUD$189 without bluetooth
- AUD $229 with bluetooth
- AUD $279 for "platinum model" with double battery life and aptX bluetooth support
(Prices include GST, which would presumbably be waived on export)

I use a pair of Nokia Play 360's to great effect, bluetooth or cable, micro usb charging and you get around 20 hours playback.

Thanks Brent, are you around this week? I'm keen to hear at least one of them in action :-)

Sorry, sorry I'm in Auck. The jambox is a bit pricey at about USD199. I bought mine duty-free in an airport on holiday last year but didn't save much off the RRP.

A friend has a Jambox, and I was very impressed with it. Sounds like they're nigh impossible to find in NZ though - if anyone has a reliable source for them, then I've got a couple of people who have been hunting around trying to find one. The local reps just gave them puzzled looks apparently.

Personally, I've got a pair of Soundbug 2's, they're pretty sweet! :)

Since JB HiFi don't seem to realise they're the listed stockists for the Jambox, it turns out that Amazon UK will ship them to NZ for $250 including postage. (Amazon US would be $270)

Not ideal obviously, but at least it's a source.

Thanks all for your input.

I have ordered the foxL v2.2 Platinum Bluetooth Edition as well as the foxL UKPRO TT10 case for it.

Stay tuned for a review in due course.

Love it! Certainly pricey but in my opinion well worth it!

Apple Store NZ now sells the Jawbone Jambox:

 http://store.apple.com/nz/product/H3163X/A/jambox-by-jawbone-wireless-speaker?

I have been using mine a lot recently and I'm still blown away by its performance for such a compact unit. A couple of weeks ago I had it taking streamed music from my iPad. Started at 10 a.m. and it was still going strong when I turned it off at 4 p.m.
