Hi guys,

A client of mine is thinking of using Lego characters in their online learning material for internal use only.

They want to snap photos of characters interacting.

My question is, are there any potential copyright issues? My client won't be selling this training, as it is for internal training only.

IMHO I don't think so as long as they don't use the abuse the trademark.

What do you mean by 'abuse the trademark'? As in taking the mickey out of it? Or using it as part of a company's logo?

My bad - I used an incorrect term entirely.

I intended to mean as long as your client does nothing to imply the use of the figures and/or the result is approved by Lego.

In general, just avoid using the Lego logo and trademark 'Lego' and you would be safe.

You can use those terms without infringement - but if you wanted a general rule that would be it.

There are plenty of Lego figure videos on YouTube that have not been pulled by Lego (Death Star Canteen - rofl.)
