Unida: ok, what is the indicator that you are on a 997 or the other one?
will i need to reconnect my line? it looks like the values are the same since install etc

You'll know when you get 30Mbps up. :)
Your line will drop in the middle of the night and it's supposed to automatically connect on the higher speeds. I don't have the rollout schedule but you may need to wait until November depending on the area.

and how do you tell that on a modem other than the fritz?
i would has it a guess that you would notice a slight difference in speed test results and sync speeds.

Chorus control profiles, through DLM. there is no control.
if you want a tip that YOU can do, get rid of that slingshot trash modem you have. Short of bridging it its typically horribly unreliable.

mercutio: for those on broadcom modems, you can telnet/ssh into your modem and there's a command like adsl/xdslcmd (netcomm, huawei) that takes parameter of info --linediag1 and will give you lots of stats.
so for hg659 you login
ATP> shell
busybox etc
$ xdslcmd info --linediag1
the question is how to go from that information to a pretty graph :)
if you think that's hard to read, try reading --SNR instead of --linediag1, no grouping at all...

Routerstat or DMT tools would probably do it.
If not natively supported, Routerstat could be tweaked to do it, its pretty customizable (although dated as hell)

i got dmt tools to work on netcomm but it just didn't fit the graph properly with vdsl. so i can't really recommend it. haven't tried routerstat.
