Hi folks,

I just had a cold call from a blocked number. The gentlemen had an Indian accent and claimed to be from the wholesale division of Telecom. I was waiting for him to tell me my computer had a virus however he had a different offer.

He offered to save me 30-40% off my phone calling rates and then proceeded to tell me about a $79 deal with unlimited national calling and $1 cell phone calls.

He got a bit bambozzled with the fact that I was on VOIP but before I politely refused his kind offer I asked his company name and he said he was from Spirit (he spelled it out for me).

Has anyone heard of them?

Cheers, Matt.

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.

Just a FYI on this, there has been an internal comm's to our rep's about this issue and I hope everyone here is smart enough to respond to them in the appropriate way if they call.

If anyone has received a call or been slammed then please email slamming@telecom.co.nz with dates & times of the call and what you were told so the team can investigate it.  Also ring up 123 and speak with a CSR as they will be able to move your services back to how they should have been as Telecom takes a very dim view of customers being slammed as it's bad for the whole industry.
