Hope this is in the right forum.

My wife and I are looking at buying a section to build a house on. I have looked the site up on the chorus broadband map and it says "Broadband > 5Mbps". So does this mean that it is only ADSL1 capable? My current address (a few km away) says "Broadband > 10Mbps" and I have ADSL2. What other info can I find out about the section? If it is ADSL1 is there any way to find if it will be upgraded in the near future?

I may go and door knock and see if any of the other people in the street have ADSL and see what their connection speed is. Would my ISP be able to give me any more detail?

So.. Found out the story.

He seems to be Exchange connected and the Alexandra exchange is ADSL/VDSL2 upgraded so that's great news as he won't be connected to an ASAM or Conklin.

About 2km away from the exchange as the bird flies and where I expect Chorus copper to be run so will need to get a Master Filter / Splitter when the house gets built to make sure he gets the best out of his broadband. Happy to add advice here but if it's a new built make sure they talk with their electrican and get CAT5e / CAT6 wired for the whole house back to a central distrubution frame, and a decent 25-30mm ducted pipe from there to the roadside should fibre ever come his way.
