Got a letter in the mailbox recently saying UFB would be coming to the street as of yesterday, but no work has started yet. But looking this morning, I see the letters I C painted right outside my house.
So just for curiosity sake, what do those letters mean?

Could it be 1C, as in 1x copper cable?

IC is actualy 1C as in one directly buried cable, 2C would be to cable etc / 1D is one duct / the Purple colour generaly indicates that it is Chorus cable
