coffeebaron: Surely this is something the whole UFB process should have ensured a regulated Phone Only service over fibre? I know when Chorus first did BoF subdivisions, there was a (almost) phone only service. It was a 128k service meant for phone only, but you could use the broadband too. It was priced much the same as a POTs line.

There is already another thread discussing this issue this morning.

As I posted in that it's a bomation of bad reporting and misinformed people.

An ATA only option exists on the CFH pricelists with Chorus and RSPs. It's up to them whether they want to take this up or offer it.

The problem is that most big providers have opted to provide voice via RGW, not the ONT. Chorus are providing voice via the ONT once they start cutting customers over to VoIP in the coming months.

So what does this mean for the end user? It really means that there is a problem because RSPs aren't offering a product. This isn't a failing of UFB per se, it's slightly more complex..
