Hi all,

I'm just wondering if anyone has ever tried running their UFB fibre directly into an SFP on their own router and bypassing their ONT altogether.

Fibre is coming soon and my router is up in the ceiling - to keep things simple I'd like to fibre run directly up there but powering the ONT would be a pain. I do have other alternatives but the ideal would be to get the right SFP and work out the settings for the handover - I've checked with my provider and I can get my IP and gateway details beforehand.

Any ideas?

Cheers.

Not possible. End of story.

While GPON is a standard the ONT is an integral part of the network and is heavily integrated with the OLT.

Chorus / your LFC aren't going to install the ONT where there is no power (and aren't going to install into a ceiling space either).
