Hello Geekzone,

nice to meet you all,

I am looking at renewing my internet plan ( Currently on Vodafone Warp Speed Cable last two years ) and have the 100mbps download speed and 10mbps Upstream ( within NZ ) of course its slower off shore to the states maybe 17-20 mbps Download and 5-7 Mbps upstream ( although can drop at times )

I work part time with a consultation company out of New York city and do alot of live video feeds from here to the USA so my biggest factor in changing/renewing internet plans is upstream for better quality live camera video consultation/feeds to the USA I mean its good at the moment but obviously I don't want to change my plan and have crappy live camera feeds from here to the USA.

I notice that Fibre is available now in my area in Wellington, and one of the fastest plans is the new Fibre 100mbps or 200mbps download and 20mbps upload ( within nz ) as upstream is my major priority would I be better changing to Fibre 100/20 and would this give me a faster live video feed off shore to the USA than my Cable internet at the moment?

Please if anyone knows more about this and fibre vs cable and offshore speed it would be much appreciated

Thanks,

Jamie

Vodafone won't offer Fibre to there cable customers whats with that!!!!

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Because there is more profit for Vodafone with cable ... the cable network is owned by Vodafone, so VF don't have to pay a second party (eg Chorus) to use their fibre network.

Cable is currently performing so badly that anybody in their right mind would prefer fibre.  smile

A cynical business decision to maximize the value of the HFC network they acquired from TelstraClear and wring every last cent of profit they can out of it.
