Hi GZ,

So I put forward a motion to discuss UFB installation at my apartment's AGM meeting with the body corporate on the form they provide (Crocker's) and I got a reply back pretty quickly saying the following:

"

Good afternoon

Thank you for your email.

My understanding is that the Body Corporate already offers UFB internet through Freedom so will not be getting Chorus in to do any cabling.    I believe when they investigated this, they found they could not get the cables up to the other floors so have gone wireless.   Freedom offer very good packages.

"

They have had wireless set up even before UFB installations started and from what I hear have had a few half-assed attempts with a chorus contractor but gave up pretty quickly.

I am definitely not a fan of a wireless solution - Firstly the evening slow downs and complicated/nearly impossible task of having a local network connected to the internet.

Is there anything I can do to have my case for UFB installation heard? Can they just give up and go with the wireless solution?

This makes me sad :(

Are you an owner or tenant?

Whats the split in the building between owner occupier and rented out?

what is the building size?

What do the neighbouring apartment owners think?

Did the body corp members choose crockers to run it for them, or did they come with the building... sounds like you might need to put in some leg work and stage a revolution,

Freedom's website looks like it was thrown together in a hurry, and their model seems to be tailored for rentals ( and badly at that)
