Hi all,

I live in an apartment building in Wellington, and I've got my UFB installation scheduled for tomorrow.

When the guy came for the scoping appointment they said the cable they would run into my apartment to the ONT could only be black. Apparently from the stairwell to the ONT it's only possible to do black cabling (and plastic capping wasn't available)?! Yet I've seen a photo of another apartment in our building with white cable, and our walls are off-white, so we really want white cabling.

Is 'only black cabling from the BUDI to the ONT' really a thing or am I well within my rights to push back on this and get white cable. Would prefer not to paint it myself...

Cheers

The Chorus standard for INTERNAL air-blown fibre duct is White. We also have a White fixed-fibre cable available where that needs to be used.

If one of our installers is installing black duct inside a building today then it is non-compliant.

Please ask them to stop the install and use the approved White duct for internal duct placement.

If the work is booked for a future date - please DM me your details and order number and we will chase this up and ensure that the service technician involved understands that using spare black duct inside an apartment or house is not the customer experience that we have planned.
