Feel a bit silly asking this but would appreciate advice from those that have gone through this.

What's the process for ordering fibre after Chorus have been through your street? We had the Chorus contractors through our street late August, early September laying the cable and generally making a bloody great mess. They've been gone now and tidied up maybe 4 to 5 weeks back. I haven't received any notification from my ISP that fibre is now available to order, should I be expecting an email or a letter box drop when it is available?

I've been keeping an eye on the Chorus website the last few weeks and up until this weekend just gone it was still saying that VDSL was the best connection I could get and fibre would be available from December. However I've just checked again tonight and it now says fibre is available at my address. I've then check my current ISPs address checker and it too says that fibre is available. Can I just go ahead and order it or do I have to wait for some sort of notification?

Just signup with your ISP and wait for the magic to happen.

If you want assurance of a connection, I would order fibre with the new ISP, then once you have it running, cancel the old ISP. You might end up paying a bit more, but it's simpler and you know you'll always have connection.
