I missed it last night, but the slowdowns on Xtra was TV1 news at 6PM, and I woke up today to the DJ's on the Edge telling everyone since the JetStream unleashed some connections are faster, some are slower.

I always knew it was going to be a hell day when I woke up to a Radio Station DJ offering the latest virus advise to users arriving to work.

But amusingly enough Xtra's status page http://xtra.co.nz/help states "There are currently no known problems with the Xtra Network." with a big green tick.

One does wonder what life changing cataclysmic disaster warrants Telecom changing this status message.

Actually I was having problems yesterday morning with my Internet connection, and in fairness when I checked the network status through another source, It did tell me about the problem I was having.

Interesting - I wonder if the network status message is location aware, eg it detects what part of Auckland I'm in and tells me everything is sweet if theres nothing wrong with the local exchanges and the core.

I don't think so, as I was using a different exchange (in another location) to find this information out. They do tell users (when they update the network status) which exchange or exchanges are affected. Smile

Interesting, Xtra admit they are having issues with Unleashed, and even refer to the TV news item on http://xtra.co.nz/help/0,,4150-6532752,00.html

But don't put a updated status message. IHug's messages are good.
