I had a phone listing with my ISP for a while, then stopped it because of money issues.  They allocated that number to a new customer.  Then I went back to the home phone and got a new number.  They added my phone number to the phone book but didn't ask for the original to be removed so I ended up in the book with two numbers.  Since then the company has been sold.  Now I'm moving ISP's and according to the new one will have three numbers in the new phone book!

I've been back and forward with my current ISP for years trying to get this sorted.   The white pages people keep sending me back to my isp who say there is nothing they can do.

Has anyone got any advice?  I looked at the telecom disputes tribunal, but the isp is not listed.

Ideally ISP's would have some kind of system where you pay some low maintenance fee and get to keep the phone number like an email address. Maybe this is not very practical for some reason.

Quoting the TDR web: "If your telecommunications company isn't a member of the TDR scheme, we recommend you go through the companies formal complaints process to try to resolve your issues.

eg; send them some surface mail and review the response which might explain the situation in more detail then..

"If you are dissatisfied with the results of this process, you can go to the Disputes Tribunal or through the court system"
