I have a lovely white fibre box on our telephone pole and ancient copper lines in the ground- which since the fibre was laid have been very grumpy (water I imagine).
As one of the original ihug customers, I'm still with Vodafone. They seem to be only ones not offering a UFB package, and the number of offers in my letterbox from snap, orcon etc are building!

Vodafone continue to 'test' and point to geekzone for dire warnings of jumping onto other wagons...
but should I stay or go?

Orcon has a good deal, Snap seems to do well...
what do you reckon?

Theo

if you have been with VF for that long, at the very least you should check their current broadband plans and make sure you are as up to dat as possible. If your plan is more than, say, 1 year old you probably aren't getting the best value from it.

Only you can really decide. If you want UFB now, then change. If you don't really care, and you have no issue with the service you're being provided and the price you're paying, stay. Personally, I'd change. But I'm not very patient.

my patience has worn thin, especially as Vodafone will not provide any timeframes for rollout. So, of those who do provide UFB are there any really outstanding providers?

I'm still waiting for them to offer VDSL.  Their bundles are very good and the only reason I have not jumped ship yet, but my patience levels are low as I have been asking them every now and then for VDSL for over 12 months.

I know the TC merger will be keeping them busy, but c'mon guys!

Vodafone have done a "softlaunch" of UFB, ring them up and ask you may be surprised

I rang vodafone a couple of weeks ago, being in the same situation (fibre outside, offeres from other providers)
I was told they would call back, as the have started rolling out to customers that had registered interest.

Two days ago they rang me.

They don't offer the sky tv bundle yet, so that is going to cost more going to sky directly.
$65 80gb 30/10
$79 150gb 30/10
Both those prices are after a $30 discount for having a vodafone cell contract.
$30 more for the 100/50 plans with same data.

Our install is booked for next Friday.

Given the ongoing routing problems (to Cloudflare in Sydney via somewhere in Asia) I may try Snap.

Good to know, but it's been happening for a long time. Perhaps Vodafone knowing they may lose customers because of it is motivation to kick the provider into getting things working.

Hi JohnR
you'll note that there is some conflicting info in the thread. I got a vague answer from VF support as to when the launch is, but a couple of people have said it has been soft launched and genuine installs have started. Any intel from you on this? cheers Theo

Business plans are apparently now available (although the site still says "register your interest"), with residential plans "imminent".
