Hi,

Just got some questions but some background: I bought an Vigor 130 and used it with my Airport Extreme 802.11ac but the Vigor 130 would spontaneously reboot randomly and I couldn't work out whether it was an incompatibility between between the router and the modem. I'm wondering whether I'll experience the same issue again if I buy a Vigor 130 modem and whether this issue is wide spread or whether this was just a case of having a bad experience.

Have a read of this thread - seems to outline similar problems with the 130, but there is a recent firmware release which probably addresses them.

I'm confused, did you buy a Vigor 130 or are you looking to buy one?

Make sure you have the latest firmware applied, as it (mostly) fixes such things as "Doesn't work at all", "Doesn't work very well", and "Barely works".

Cool, I'll give that a good read through.

Apologies, I should have been clearer. I bought a Vigor 130 and experienced spontaneous reboots so I returned it to the place where I bought it from. I'm looking at buying a new one to give it another shot and from what I understand 3.7.1.3 is the latest version but I don't see anything addressing the issue that I noted - it does mention addressing:

Improvement: Support VLAN tagged packets in bridge mode and PPPoE passthrough mode.
Corrected: VPN passthrough issue.

Unless that was causing the spontaneous reboot to begin with.

It appears that Apple has released a firmware update for the Airport Extreme 802.11ac which addresses some bugs:

http://fairerplatform.com/2013/11/airport-extreme-airport-time-capsule-firmware-update/

Two bugs fixes that jumped out at me were:

— Resolves an issue that may intermittently cause a loss in WAN connectivity
— Resolves an issue that may result in a network loop

Which makes me wonder whether the issues I was facing with the Vigor 130 was due in part to the AEBS.
