Hi there, recently we had our kitchen pulled out for renovation. As the main phone jack was part of the old kitchen bench, this also got pulled out - as in, the guy pulled the wires out from the phone port thinking it would not affect anything. However, this made all the other phone ports in the house lose the internet connection. Luckily we were able to tape back the wires in the slots and this made the internet work on the other ports however once the new kitchen was installed I reconnected the modem to this internet port and realised that the internet would not connect - the modem could not pick up any internet signal. When I connect the same modem to the other phone line, the internet works. So I'm guessing the wiring must not be quite right? I'm attaching pictures here. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Wihout knowing your whole wiring setup it's a little hard to give advice based upon a photo of a single jack point.

That wiring looks pretty ugly, there is a good chance you'd benefit from someone redoing your phone wiring. Perhaps they could install a master filter at the same time.

If you are Auckland or Waikato, I have done this kind of work for quite a few Geekzone members.

Chorus has spent $1.4 billion on making their xDSL broadband network faster. If your still stuck on ADSL or VDSL, why not spend from $150 on a master filter install to make sure you are getting the most out of your connection?
