Hey, My Bit torrent downloads are not working at all, I think Orcon may have completely stopped them...

Last month I went a little crazy and downloaded about 45GB, which is well over the 20GB they recommend in their "fair use policy". I have only done this once before back in December. I haven't received any emails about the excessive use but should soon. Today is the first day of the internet month. I downloaded something earlier today, but this evening downloads on bit torrent do not work at all, I also can not connect to tracker or anything. I have tried using both Azureus and uTorrent. Has anyone heard anything of this?

Welcome to Geekzone... Some standard questions: have you installed any new software, changed firewall or anti-virus settings, changed router, modem or anything that could affect the system? Changed any configuration on your client?

Yea new software has been installed, and I did a registry clean before problem.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled uTorrent, I have also tried downloading on another computer. I have no idea what is wrong.

It could be unrelated, but I don't like registry cleaners - they usually cause more problems than clean the registry.

Are you saying this is happening with other PC on the same network?

Same issue here. Orcon has capped all p2p traffic. I am on a 15gig full speed plan and 12k/s is the max u can get. .1k/s per user connected. Grabed some nix distro image last night and yeah.. average is 12.1k/s. This really sucks as i grab all my WoW patches / updates over p2p as well as lots of free vids etc. As far as i know this is against the terms of the product i signed for. I know p2p shaping takes place on the zero shock plan.

Below is the cut / paste of my plan from their website account management section. I pay for a set amount of uncapped data. No shaping no slow down if i go over the cap. I just pay more.

Orcon do shape the zero shock plan but - according to the help desk automaton I spoke to before moving from their 15GB std plan - traffic is generally only shaped during NZ bus hours. I have yet to DL anything since the change (May 23) so will check tonight.

Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.

Confirmed with Orcon the std plans have *no* shaping at all and the zero shock has shaping based on the overall nw utilisation within the ISP.

I wrote a long reply last night and it got deleted because apparently I wasn't logged in!
Anyway, download worked this morning and it was all good. But now... I believe they may be blocking access to my tracker or something cause this is not working well!! At least it is downloading a bit this evening. Because I am with a private tracker my speed should be in the 200s constantly, that is not happening...

Ok. Speed kind of picked up now to about 40-50. Still I am connected to very few peers compared to how many stated on the site. This is unusual because it is a good private tracker. Is it possible Orcon is skrewing with my connection to the tracker?
