All is good with my router.

PC, phones etc connect no issue. And at times the macbook will connect. But sometimes it shows up with the "!" signal on the mac indicating no connectivity. It lights up all the way to DNS etc. Has no issue when I ethernet the macbook, just cant do that some times.

I read something netcomm wrote, on the net about trying a different security type. But it comes with wpa psk by default not wep so thats not it.

Any ideas?

I didnt realise the channels dont get auto selected by least interference.

What kind of interference is it?

Ill see if this makes a difference.

Cordless phones, microwaves, anything that uses radio waves. I found cordless phones were the biggest problem in my setup. It took a bit of experimenting to find the right channel.

I read that if you use the same ssid from a previous setup you can have these issues.

Also I have read apples like to have separate 2.4 and 5ghz ssid

Something about them not complying with IEEE standards.

Jase2985: auto channel selection is the devil

And WiFi on Apple devices follows closely behind. Simple reality now is WiFi on Apple devices is the cause of much grief in this world since most new Apple devices are no longer WiFi Alliance certified.

We had DHCP issues with the one installed at work this week - we ended up having to downgrade the firmware back to version 14 which killed the VPN. Happy days. So then we upgraded again and using the NAS box to manage DHCP. Apparently a common problem tho so if your issues recur might be something to try.
