So this was dug right outside my gate :3. After years of dealing with faulty ADSL2+ and missing out on the VDSL2 upgrade, I am finally going to see fibre.

So in reference to this being done today (9th), What time frame can I expect fibre to be complete, tested and ready for technicians to wire everything up?

Not I am in Ellerslie, Auckland. They did the first half of this area 2 months ago and then nothing really happened until today.

Been waiting for fibre for years and now that it is almost here, I cant wait.

From what I've read on GZ, about 3-6 months.
I'm jealous - we don't get UFB until late 2019

Based on my experience it could be up to a year if things don't go smoothly, but it probably won't be that long.

Look up the date on http://www.chorus.co.nz/maps. Add a month.

haha i see what you mean, posted a full sized 10Mp, 4Mb pictures and links it to a forum.

very considerate of other members, considering the forum automatically scales it down to about 540pixles

They layed the piping in my street last month and chrus maps says for my address

But further up my street, which bisects two major roads they are not going to be so lucky as the install stopped close to my home

Chorus map shows may but we have been having huge issues with out connection for years and are dying for a broadband connection that doesnt drop every half hour. Chorus held back on repairing the current copper even after testing and confirming there are problems with the current line. Because this is quite a small zone with just one main street, part of a side street and a small back road and considering this is a small business zone it would be done quickly?

I just walked down the road and fibre is 3/4 layed already.

I have a friend who go all excited about getting UFB because they dug up half his street. When I looked on the chorus maps he couldn't get it until after Jul-2016 but he lives opposite a school so it looked like they had just dug up the street to connect the school or something. I know schools\etc are the priority in initial phases, but boy that must be frustrating ;-) I guess the moral is don't assume just because they're digging up your street you can get it :p (Though obviously in this case it looks like you've already done your homework on the chorus site, etc)

Iv been following the rollout for years. Spent a year in Australia. Got the taste for 30 down. came back to the experience of 10 down between 1am and 5am and then every other hour its <1mb. ping through the roof. Drop outs galore. If its raining, goodbye phone and internet. Need something faster considering uni requires me to upload 30MB+ files every other night plus high data consumption family. 400GB's a month.

Well given my experience Chorus. Maps said Dec 2014, ducting went in last year outside my address then in the last round of time changes they added 2-3 years to their estimation.

Moral of the story is to take anything chorus say with a major grain of sand.
