At the moment I'm hearing lots about 'Naked' DSL & LLU, but nothing at all about UBS (Unbundled BitStream) connections.  Am I getting confused and UBS IS Naked DSL or is there another option out there that no-one's talking about?

On the same vein of thought, does anyone know if ISPs will be offering 'Really Naked' DSL?  ie; DSL with no phoneline and also no VOIP bundling?  I haven't decided if I want to pay for VOIP as a monthly service or use something else like Skype Out yet...

UBS is the broadband service currently run over a Telecom phone line i.e. the line charge is billed separately from the broadband charge.

Naked DSL in NZ will actually be implemented initially as Naked Bitstream until such time as LLU is implemented.  There will only be one charge billed to the customer from the ISP who provides the Naked Bitstream service.

A bit too early to say yet I think...

So what are the $16 urban & $32 rural (or slightly more now) price determinations the Commerce Commission have put out all about then?

They apply to ULL, so don't have any direct effect until next year.  Although, those amounts are a component of the price from which Naked Bitstream will be calculated.
