Email today from Woosh:

We've had a great run here at Woosh ' we've been serving broadband to Kiwis for 11 years now.

But, we are sad to say, we are reducing the scale of our operations and will stop offering you (and others) services next month.

Of course we'd never leave you in the lurch. We have come to a deal with our friends over at Slingshot, to make sure you can get a replacement broadband (and phone) service, set up and running quickly and easily.

They will be in touch soon to let you know more details, but the key thing is, your service can continue without you having to do anything ' except plug in a new modem.

We'd like to thank you for your custom. We really have had some fantastic and loyal customers over the years, and it's been our pleasure to provide you service.

You are in safe hands with Slingshot, they are a great bunch, with great prices, rock solid performance and a friendly NZ-based contact centre.

This email could be moved to the "Slingshot buying Woosh customer base" thread.

We have no fixed phone line to our office so will the installation cost be for us to pay or will Slingshot help with this?

A fair number of clients I used to deal with in Southland used Woosh modems in their cowsheds for herd-records type stuff, was far easier than getting copper or fixed wireless to their sheds

Not sure of 'scaling down services' is the right words to use.
This article says they have sold their cusomter database to Ozzie owned M2 http://www.stuff.co.nz/business/industries/70568616/woosh-sells-9000-internet-customers , they don't appear to have directly told their customers that in their email. I see in their press release, that Slingshot will be offering their customers a deal offering better value, so I guess that means cheaper broadband?
The article also says they want to focus on their wirelss services, but there was another thread on here a few days ago, about someone losing wireless access, and them not fixing the wireless tower due to it being old technology.

We currently have Woosh Wireless for our business on their old Connect plan for $45 per month with free local calls. That $45 (including GST) gives us 2 Voip phone lines and 10GB broadband (enough for us). Can Slingshot improve on that? Hopefully they can also offer a wireless broadband solution for a similar price. If they don't have wireless not sure what we'll do - Perhaps Slingshot will do the wiring. Have called Slingshot (actually called Woosh and was automatically put through to Slingshot). They will call back later with an offer.

That sounds like a good deal. It looks like the 'better value' deal only applies to fixed line customers and not wireless ones, from their press release.
From their press release, it looks like they are getting out of all fixed line and wireless broadband services throughout NZ, apart for Southlands Rural wireless broadband. http://www.woosh.com/broadband-and-phone/important-news/

This consolidation of the broadband market I don't think is that good for consumers, and means that you only have a few companies operating under multiple brands. You will start to see the affects when prices rise.

Just got an email from Woosh to say I will be switched to Slingshot $75 unlimited. Currently on $75 for 40GB so happy with that.

It turns out you can now only buy Wireless in Southland with them now. Their other regions have been removed.
