Hi guys,

Just looking for some advise please. We've got VDSl via orcon and there service has been fine but read excellent post on VDSL tuning ( http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?topicid=105744 ) and tried to compare it to my own plan. FYI I'm in Pukekohe, Auckland.

Unfortunately I've got the standard orcon modem/router which I'm not finding the easiest to work with so thought I'd post the info and ask for help rather than trying to muddle my way through it.

thanks for any help

Stu

Do you have an actual problem you are trying to solve?

49 down? What are you unhappy about with that? You've got half the speed of a fibre connection.

49mbit at 13.1dB isnt bad. to be fair, your running at 6.3dB there. Assuming that isnt snr tweaked, ild expect to drop back down to lower 40s once it resyncs eventually.

Realistically, your line is long. for your distance, your getting great results.

Pay no attention to the haters Stu, there are always methods available to improve things and why not optimise!?  :D

As Hio77 pointed out, you are doing remarkably well for your line conditions!  What kind of router are you running?

Do you have any SNR tweaks active at present?

Do you know how far away from the cabinet you are?

How is your internal wiring setup?

You should be (very) happy smile - I get worse speeds than that on "100/10Mbps" cable. frown

Glad that's a full stop you've got in there, although your lowercase 'f' threw me for a moment.
Initial read was taken as "your line is long, for your distance..."

Which is a bit like "You are fairly old, for your age"

So you were pretty clear, for your level of sobriety? :P
