I know this has been asked before but can’t find the thread. Just seeing if it’s possoble to switch ISPs giving the 30 day notice period and not losing service. Or as consumers are we meant to grin and bear it?

Cheers!

Sign up with your new provider first. Once your new provider has submitted their connection/transition order and confirmed when it will complete, let your old provider know you're leaving + close off any outstanding billing arrangements with them.

Note: Doing the above won't get you out of any ETF applicable to you from the losing RSP.

Yes, it's possible. It just needs a bit of organizing. Here's the guide in cartoon form: http://pages.bigpipe.co.nz/how-to-switch-isps-without-ruining-everything/

I had to google that TLA (three-letter acronym) - to any anyone else similarly ignorant: it's not an 'exchange-traded fund' (the one I'd heard of prior) but an 'early termination fee'!

In practice, it's quite feasible to not pay any ETF, and avoid too much of a double payment, provided the switch is timed appropriately, eg I'll only be double-paying for three days when I switch next month.
