Is it normal for the fibre contractor to email the end customer from their personal email address when scoping out a fibre install?

I was expecting all communications to be routed via Chorus of through my ISP so that there is an appropriate paper trail of approvals and associated time line, instead the whole process has become increasingly frustrating.

Initially the contractor wasn't going to produce a scoping document, and planned on pinning the fibre to the internal walls of the garage, approx 10m run of exposed fibre. We coudln't proceed without landlord approval and requested a scoping document which came from the contractor's personal gmail account.

We've had no response to any of of subsequent communications and I've had to escalate the matter with Orcon.

Has anyone else had a similar experience?

I was with Orcon when i got connected to Fibre and all my email communications were with Orcon.

Also, Orcon asked the details of the landlord via Email.

i just had a call from the technician (not sure if it was company / personal phone) on Saturday Morning when he was available (which was a week earlier than our agreed date), Good for me !!

Regarding contacting Orcon, Try sending message on FB page - they generally reply within hours.

Chorus and the ISP keep telling me different dates (at the same time). So far they've shown up at exactly 1 out of the 5 visits they scheduled. Sometimes someone rings a day ahead to confirm, but that seems to reduce the chance of them actually showing up.

I don't see communication as the strong point of anyone in the telecommunication business...
