Hi all

I'm looking for non-landline broadband in the CBD of auckland (corner victoria st and albert st)

I need to be connected to a VPN  for 6-8 hours per day and will be mainly browsing websites constantly and downloading on average of 20MB per day of pdf files on top. I also use a program that accesses a remote database but I have no idea what kind of bandwidth is uses. I'm not sure if 3gigs at vodafone or telecom per month is enough & I have no idea how to work it out. Woosh has more generous caps but have so much bad press that I'm very reluctant.
Is there a way I can measure my current bandwidth usage?

Also usb or pc card?

Please advise.

Thanks

there has been a few programs that watches your bandwidth usage, certain firewalls or a specialized internet/network traffic monitor program. I use PC Tools for my home desktop, but that's not a very user friendly interface for telling how much bandwidth has been used.
I think you could even set up a server to monitor bandwidth usage, but I have no idea how to start with that, and probably a bit too much work for what you need.

most ISPs provide a "usage meter" on their website when you log onto your account. I know telecom had one about 8 months ago when I was still with them, not sure about vodafone.
