Hi there,

I am considering moving over to a VOIP phone and then using the monthly saving on the phone line to pay for Homemedia & HD Access.

However, I am having problems finding a decent broadband only plan with 10+ GB/month as most plans come bundled with a phone line.

I was hoping a fellow may be able to suggest a good option for broadband only? I am based in Wellington.

Thanks in advance,

Cheers
Simon

Same question - different day!! Multiple requests for this info, and basically dependent on where you live.. So where is that?? and be specific

If you live within Telstra Clears cable network the best option IMO is cable internet (no phone required) alternatively there are a couple of Naked DSL providers, but it is expensive without a phone, thats where xnet is probably your best bet as you get a free VOIP with local calling on there Naked plan..

If you want HomeMedia with TCL you need to have either a phoneline or cable internet. TV is not available by itself.

The plans are all listed on the TCL site

Hi itxtme,

Which supplier are you with and what package do you have?

There is no package that has all 3 and is presumably with 3 providers - a standard 20GB TCL cable plan, a VFX account and MySky from Sky.

If you are looking for a broadband only plan with 10GB a month then there is Snap naked dsl with 10GB for $69.95 a month. Probably the cheapest option available in the naked dsl arena.

If you cant get Telstra's HFC cable, then you have to pay for the cost of maintaining hte line one way or another. It doesn't make much difference whether they put phone or broadband service over the line or both.

However, ADSL is not reliable enough to use as your only "lifeline" so you have to be extra careful about keeping your mobile batteries charged, and probably also run a UPS on your modem and voip phone too. I just got one of these, pretty good and much cheaper than I expected. APC Back-UPS CS BK350EI

Time to find a new industry!
