hi all

i'm currently on telecom adventure plan with 20gb/month, my data count was reset on 13th and today 19th its showing my usage is 23gb/20gb...i find this very weired i have not use and torrent and i don't use much youtube...i don't know how did i get this 23gb and my connection is max 2mbps for dl and 500kbps for upload...anyway i can't live with it for rest of the month so I'm thinking to change to another isp and bcoz i'm running a biz at home i'll need faxability on landline so i guess my only option is vodafone or telstraclear, so heres few thing i'd like to find out before i switch

-how is latency performance between vodafone and tc

-are they all sharing same exchange with telecom? want to find out with new isp if there is any chance of getting adsl2+...telecom say they are installing new exchange in dec this but don't seems too promise to me

-has tc's unmetered site problem fixed yet?

Why do you need faxability? just port the fax number to 2talk and get fax to email and you are also rid of the ringing fax calls at night.

So you have said what telecom say you use, what have you measured your usage as? 20 gigs on that low linespeed must be you maxing it out for 4-5 hours a day at least. Either you are using it, or there is an error so check your stats and see how they compare to telecoms.

Login to your telecom on the telecom site and look at the breakdown/details of the current months usage, this will tell you how much was used per day etc.

Virus scan all your computers, scan for malware with malwarebytes on all your computers.

Change your wireless network password.

Install Networx on your PC's to measure how much data they are using.

PPS and PPlive uses a great deal of upload, even you are not watching. as along as the program runs in the backgrounds,it will upload. make sure you close them properly.

I am pretty sure you can just change your plan to a bigger one for the month to get you through till the end of the month, then change back again, maybe by then you will have sorted out where your data is going.  I have heard it can be big hassles changing ISP if there is no reason to.

Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation

On Telecom you can do 1 free plan change per month, also when you change plan the data used count is reset.

So if you think you need about another 10GB for the rest of the month change to 10GB plan now (ring up or fill out the form online in your telecom), they will usually change you within 24hours.

Then next month/billing period use up the 10GB plan you're on then change back to the 20GB plan.

Faxability only recieves, its nothing to do with sending faxes, you can keep doing that on your old machine on any phoneline that supports sending faxes, which last time I tried did work ok on orcon LLU, never tried vodafone or telstra clear LLU lines.

Files are much easier to deal with than pieces of paper, and you can always get an ATA if you want them going to your machine, although in saying that with their current pricing at $15 its a bit expenive if that is all you are going to use it for and dont get thru the 500 mins which would be hard just faxing.

A maxed out 2Mbps connection will chew through 20GB in under 24 hours, it ain't that hard...

And with him running out in less than 6 days, that gives 4-5 hours a day that it is maxed out..
